Yolanda specializes in the development of music programs for children in multiple languages. She is the author of award-winning educational materials for children and leads teacher-training workshops in the United States and the Dominican Republic. Her work includes early childhood music education, educational consulting, cultural and business management.


In 1999, Yolanda founded I'm Bilingual!, an innovative bilingual integrated arts program for young children in New York City.  The program was taught in seven languages and was named by CBS as "Best Language Classes in NYC".  


Her first CD ¡Caramba! Kids, based on children’s songs in Spanish, was distributed to more than two thousand preschoolers of the Dominican Republic and received a Silver Honor by Parents' Choice Awards in the United States of America in 2006. The second CD ¡Cantemos todos juntos! has received the Tillywig Awards and Family Choice Awards in 2021. Yolanda published a teacher's guide in English and Spanish to accompany the CD ¡Cantemos todos juntos!  She has also published Los pajaritos (2017) and La Finca (2019), two illustrated songbooks for children, which have received awards from the International Latino Book Awards, Dragonfly Book Awards, Mom’s Choice Awards and Family Choice Awards.


In 2011 Yolanda created a foundation in the Dominican Republic as part of her life’s dream of developing a social responsibility project to offer musical and educational activities to all audiences in her native country. Currently, she is President of the Fundación de la Villa de Santo Domingo and Executive Director of Conciertos de la Villa de Santo Domingo, an annual music festival in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo.


A native of the Dominican Republic with degrees from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University Teachers College, Yolanda Borrás has taught music classes in English, Spanish and French in Paris, Hong Kong, New York and the Dominican Republic. Yolanda received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and a Master of Educational Administration from Columbia University Teachers College in New York City. As the founder of I’m Bilingual! Yolanda was selected to participate in an SME program at Columbia Business School's Eugene Lang Center in New York City.



Yolanda is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in the field of education, and is affiliated with national and international professional organizations. Yolanda was a featured alumnus in the Johns Hopkins University Magazine for "Teaching music in many languages".  She has been interviewed by programs affiliated with NPR and by EdLab at Columbia University Teachers College. She has also been featured in national and international publications including the New York Times. Yolanda Borrás is listed in Who’s Who of Outstanding American Women and Who’s Who in American Education.
